Two websites came to my attention lately. One is a Christian organization whose aim is to involve teens in the political process and to, "change America for Christ." That organization is Teen Pact. An online friend received an email from the organization which stated, "You can help us by supplying the needed resources. For example, we'll take over 50 students to volunteer during the Alito hearing."
Getting teens, or anyone else, invested in the political process is a good thing, but when its one-sided, the balance is altered. Imbalance can cause problems, but many times what one side sees as imbalance is considered by the favored side only to be a readjustment to equilibrium.
The other website which got my attention was talk2action. My first thought is, if there are organizations getting teens together to "change America for Christ," are there groups of other political persuasions doing the same thing for their kids?
My second thought was prompted by one of the talk2action articles which said, "The problem is not the theological difference between God and "man", but the political difference between those who are trying to live peacefully in a pluralistic democracy and those who are trying to aggressively impose their own theory of government on everybody else."
I still think that, because we are a nation founded on freedom, and because our Constitution's Bill of Rights guarantees free speech, that organizations such as Teen Pact are legitimate. BUT, if there are people whose viewpoints are different, they, too, should organize and speak out.
Even if you're right, you'll get run over if you just stand there.
